8 Months

Happy 8 Months Sweet Kate!

You are pure sugar!

We went to the Children's Museum today with your Nana and Eli.  You were so good.

You don't stay seated for very long these days.  Taking these photos in the chair is getting a bit dangerous.

This is your favorite toy.  You love to dance to all the music it plays.  I love your chunky legs.

We had to drop your mattress today because you have started climbing up the side of the crib.

You have started blowing raspberries when I feed you.  Big Mess.

Eli is now potty trained.  He got this bike for using the big boy potty.  I thought it was funny that he took it for the first ramp he could find.  He takes his bike everywhere now.  You did a great job Mr. Eli and we are so proud of you!

Kate now weighs 21.5lbs, wears size 4 diaper & 12 month clothes.  Big girl!

She says Momma and Dadda.  She can crawl backwards, but hasn't mastered going forward yet.  And she can go from her stomach to sitting position.

One afternoon I was sitting on the deck when Eli awoke from his nap.  He came out and was appalled that I didn't have shoes on.  I tried to get him to come out without his shoes on, but he kept saying, "No momma, where's our shoes?".  He left and came back with his white footie socks and Easter dress shoes, and brought me a pair of flip-flops.  Never mind that he didn't have pants on . . . his shoes were on, and that's all that matters.
He is really sweet to Kate.  I love their little button noses.

I have gotten a little behind on blogging, so I just decided to press on, and I'll catch up when I get a chance.
These two little ones have been keeping me quite busy.  I say it all the time, but Kate is such a good little one.  She is sick right now and showing us a little sass, but it doesn't last very long.  She has found her voice and is quite noisy when she wants to be.  Even though she can't really crawl, she can make her way across a room very quickly.  She is growing so fast!  I snuggle her as long as I possibly can, trying to hold on to having my baby be a baby.
Eli is very . . . "spirited" these days.  He is so strong willed, in fact he is currently sneaking into the room I'm sitting in and it's 11:11pm!  He will wake me tomorrow at 6:30am.  I wish I had his energy!  He is also very loud.  I don't know how he doesn't keep Kate up at night.  Girlfriend gets her beauty rest though.  He is super smart and never forgets anything.  I honestly didn't think he was ready to be potty trained because he had no interest in using the "big boy potty". We had two weeks where we didn't have a ton of plans and he wasn't going to any babysitters, so we thought it would be a good time to try.  I told him we were out of diapers and that was that.  It took about three days and a lot of bribing, but no diapers or pull-ups, and he has done great.  Now when I go to the bathroom, he says, "Good job mommy!"  There are a few things I don't want to forget about Eli at this age.  He calls the microwave the mac and cheese maker.  (I know this speaks volumes about my cooking.)  When he is scared, he quietly says to himself, "It's not scary, I have Jesus in my heart."  When he knows we are mad at him he says, "Don't be sorry about me."  He is always singing, sometimes songs I know, sometimes things he just makes up, but his favorite song is "The drum song" (Rumor has it, by Adele).  He wants to say The Lord's Prayer 100 times at night (not because he is a little Saint, but because he is stalling for bedtime . . . still, it is really cute to hear him say it.) His favorite thing in the world is candy, m&m's in particular.  He throws some real tantrums these days but he always prepares us for what he is going to do before he does it.  He'll say, "I'm gonna throw this!"  Thanks for the warning. :o) He wears me out, but I just love him to pieces.  Both of these kids are such a joy and I love being their mom.
